The pad should leave colour, not fibres

In artisan leather finishing, the pad fabric helps spread pigment over the hide. Good pile retention matters: loose fibres can mix with the product and spoil the surface. Danese supplies mohair velvet selected for this application.

Pile retention, wear resistance and cleaning

Mohair is a fibre obtained from the hair of the Angora goat. The velvet we offer is selected for pile retention, resistance in use and ease of cleaning when making a reliable hand pad. Cleaning methods must suit both the fabric and the finishing product used.

The same type of velvet since 1992

Since 1992 Danese has supplied the same type of mohair velvet, appreciated by customers for manual leather padding. The choice prioritises application quality and working life rather than the initial price alone of cheaper fabrics.

By the metre or in rolls, cut to your pad size

Craftspeople cut the velvet to the required size and make their own hand pad for applying colour to leather. We supply it by the metre or in rolls, with a lower price per metre for a full roll. Tell us the quantity required for a supply quotation.
