Uniform fleshing starts with the parts in contact with the hide

Fleshing quality depends on the coordinated action of the blades, sharpening system and hide feed. The blades remove flesh, fat and tissue from the flesh side while preserving the hide structure. Rubber inserts guide the hide towards the working cylinder, while abrasives help keep the blades in suitable working condition.

Danese supplies spare parts and consumables for tannery fleshing machines, selected according to the machine and production requirements.

Fleshing blades: remove unwanted tissue, preserve the hide

Blades are central to the fleshing machine. Their role is to detach and remove residual flesh and fat without cutting into the dermis that will become leather. Uneven fleshing calls for checks on blade condition, sharpening, feeding and machine settings: selecting the correct replacement is part of that balance.

Ceramic abrasive bricks: ready to sharpen when needed

When blades need sharpening, the abrasive must restore the edge quickly and operate around water splashes. In wet, chemically demanding beamhouse conditions, we normally recommend ceramic abrasive bricks. We usually keep them in stock; contact us to check the size and availability for your machine.

Rubber inserts: guide the hide and accommodate irregularities

Rubber inserts are wear consumables. They contact the grain side and feed the hide so that its flesh side is presented to the blades. The compliance of the rubber helps accommodate natural irregularities and maintain a more even feed. If feeding becomes uneven, the surface and condition of the inserts should also be checked.

Different profiles and constructions require different replacements. Machine model, dimensions and photographs help identify the correct insert.

Other parts for fleshing machine maintenance

We also supply annealed copper strip for reblading, together with electrical parts for control panels and safety circuits. Components are identified against the machine and the original part to establish compatibility.

A practical way to make fleshing easier for operators and speed up hide handling is to use a hide manipulator or loader alongside the fleshing machine, such as our Danese Loader. By assisting loading and unloading and reducing manual handling, it can help the process run more smoothly, supporting productivity and the economic efficiency of the department. The dedicated product page provides a description, videos and machine specifications.
